Information Collection and Use

Information Collection

CONNECT: The Knowledge Network is the sole owner of the information collected on www.connectknowledge.com. CONNECT collects information from our users at several different points on our Web site.

  • Profiles/Resumes - We store information that we collect through resumes to create a profile of our users. A profile is stored information that we keep on individual users that details their experience and their own criteria for their next position. We do not share your profile with other third parties unless you give us permission.
  • Your profile and resume may be corrected or updated at any time. You may also request to have your profile deleted, in which event we will remove all our copies of your information except for archival copies which are not directly accessible. Some residual information may remain in our databases and logs, but it will not be used for commercial purposes.
  • Seminar Registration - We request information on our registration form. A user must provide contact information (such as name, e-mail, and address) and financial information (such as credit card number, expiration date). This information is used for billing purposes and to register the customer for the seminar. If we have trouble processing a registration, the information is used to contact the user.

Information Use

CONNECT uses the information gathered to help deliver the products and services that we offer. When a user submits their resume on the web site, a recruiter saves it, examines it and tries to find the best position for that user. When a user registers for a seminar, the information collected is used to contact the user in case there are any changes in the seminar and to collect payment.

The e-mail links located on various areas of the site allow you to contact us directly with questions, comments, or requests. This information is used to respond to your questions, comments, and requests. Your comments are saved.

Aggregate information is used to establish trends, which allows CONNECT to update the Web site and better serve it’s users.

  • Cookies/Clear gifs - A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user’s computer tied to information about the user. We use cookies on the web site to manage user sessions and do not use them for any data gathering operations.
Clear gifs are tiny graphics with a unique identifier, similar in function to cookies, and are used to track the online movements of Web users. We do not use clear gifs on the web site

    • This privacy statement covers the use of cookies and clear gifs by www.connectknowledge.com only and does not cover the use of cookies by any third parties or advertisers.
  • Log Files - Like most web sites, our web servers generate log files. Some of the information logged includes, internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, and number of clicks. This information is examined in aggregate to analyze trends, administer the site, track user’s movement, and gather broad demographic information. IP addresses, etc. are not linked to personally identifiable information. We do retain the right to search for individuals who damage CONNECT: The Knowledge Network’s web site.

Disclosure of Information

CONNECT does not sell, re-sell or distribute for re-sale your personally identifiable information, except as set forth in the following paragraphs. In addition, CONNECT does not share aggregated demographic information with our partners or advertisers.

  • Resumes - We may disclose such information to third parties if you consent to such disclosure. For example, if we find a client who has a position that meets your needs and experience, we will want to share your personal information with them. This sharing only occurs after we have obtained permission from the individual whose information is to be shared.
  • Third Party Intermediaries - All information made available to CONNECT may be made available to our contractors and professional advisors (such as attorneys or accountants), but only to the extent necessary for them to perform services on our behalf, and only under a duty of confidentiality. We use a credit card processing company to bill users for goods and services. These companies do not retain, share, store or use personally identifiable information for any secondary purposes.
  • Business Transitions - In the event CONNECT: The Knowledge Network goes through a business transition, such as a merger, being acquired by another company, or selling a portion of its assets, users’ personal information will, in most instances, be part of the assets transferred. Users will be notified via prominent notice on our Web site for 30 days prior to a change of ownership or control of their personal information. If as a result of the business transition, the users’ personally identifiable information will be used in a manner different from that stated at the time of collection, they will be given choice consistent with our notification of changes section.
  • Legal Action - Though we make every effort to preserve user privacy, we may need to disclose personal information when required by law wherein we have a good-faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with a current judicial proceeding, a court order or legal process served on our Web site.

Security

This Web site takes every precaution to protect our users’ information. When users submit sensitive information via the Web site, their information is protected both online and off-line.

When our registration/order form asks users to enter sensitive information (such as credit card number), that information is encrypted and is protected with the best encryption software in the industry - SSL. While on a secure page, such as our payment form, the lock icon on the bottom of Web browsers such as Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Internet Explorer becomes locked, as opposed to un-locked, or open, when users are just ’surfing’.

While we use SSL encryption to protect sensitive information online, we also do everything in our power to protect user information off-line. All of our users’ information, not just the sensitive information mentioned above, is restricted in our offices.

However, we cannot provide absolute assurance against, and will not be liable for, any breaches of confidentiality due to system failures or unauthorized access by third parties.

If users have any questions about the security at our Web site, users can send an e-mail to webmaster@connectknowledge.com

Correcting/Updating/Deleting/Deactivating Personal Information

This can usually be done by e-mailing support at support@connectknowledge.com. Or, contact us by telephone or postal mail at the contact information listed below.

Note that even if you request to have your personal information deleted, some residual information may remain in our archives, databases and logs. It will not be used for commercial purposes.

Notification of Changes

If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will post those changes to this privacy statement, the homepage, and other places we deem appropriate so our users are always aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we disclose it. We will use information in accordance with the privacy policy under which the information was collected.

If, however, we are going to use users’ personally identifiable information in a manner different from that stated at the time of collection we will notify users via e-mail. Users will have a choice as to whether or not we use their information in this different manner. In addition, if we make any material changes in our privacy practices that do not affect user information already stored in our database, we will post a prominent notice on our Web site notifying users of the change. In some cases where we post a notice we will also e-mail users, who have opted to receive communications from us, notifying them of the changes in our privacy practices.
